J-Wahl Arrested

According to Kristin at E! Online, Jason (LC's ex-boyfriend, and costar of The Hills) was arrested on September 1st in New York City for a variety of offenses:

"This one is pretty sad. A rep at the NYPD confirms that Jason Wahler (Lauren's ex, who appeared on Laguna Beach and The Hills) was arrested in New York City on Sept. 1, at 4:34 a.m. He was charged with three counts of bribery, criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. So, if you're wondering how he took that breakup with Lauren, well, you may have your answer."

She goes on to say:

"Korbi is in tight with the LB peeps, and she tells me that since breaking up with LC, Jason's been living with a couple of different friends and is now allegedly living on Jordan and Brian's couch. Andy Milonakis still lives with them, too."

Now, I'm not one to gossip or speculate, but reading between the lines, it seems like Jason was caught with drugs and tried to bribe a police officer not to arrest him. When the bribery failed, looks like Mr. Wahler resisted arrest. My guess as to the "controlled substance"? Cocaine. Other blogs have hinted at it, and it's public knowledge that Jason was in rehab for Season 1 of Laguna Beach for drinking and drugs. Plus, what pothead resists arrest? Of course, as any lawyer will tell you, I'm just speculating.

Update-- TMZ is now reporting the details of Wahler's arrest:

"According to the court documents, Wahler was obstructing traffic by standing in the street and creating a public disturbance. Officers then attempted to handcuff the 19-year-old, but he resisted. After being taken to the precinct, police found cocaine in Wahler's left front pants pocket. Adding insult to injury, Wahler repeatedly attempted to offer money to the officer in exchange for his release.Wahler is due back in court on December 11."

Drama In The LC...

The New York Daily News reported the following this morning in the Rush and Molloy column:

"We love dishing about celebrity drama, but even we don't like getting caught in the middle. Our Jo Piazza got clawed by a real-life "Laguna Beach"-"The Hills" catfight at the Oakley party at Snitch Wednesday night. "Laguna" bad boy Jason Wahler kept bumping into her while he was getting to second base with a bottle blond on the back of a banquette.

When his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Lauren (LC) Conrad, walked into the party, he hastily extricated himself and landed practically in Jo's lap. LC started squealing to her pal Heidi Montag and then sent a rep from MTV to ask if
Piazza was "with" Jason. She was then ordered to "get away from him."

LC soon stormed out with her posse to another party at Tenjune.

But that wasn't it for Jason, who sloppily continued his hookup and then offered a stranger $5 for two cigarettes. Turned down, he then asked to borrow $2 so he could buy his own pack. MTV needs to start giving these kids some kickbacks."

And the moral of the story? Jason = Gross. And I've got concerns over just how permanent this breakup actually is...

Snap Judgments

First impressions are usually a good barometer of how things might go in the long run, so in keeping with the snotty, bitchy (and fabulous!) tone of last night's season premiere of LB, here are some snap judgments on Season 3.

Tessa: Meh. The New York Times had it right when they said: "That narrator in the third season of 'Laguna Beach' is like, so lame." The author continues and says: "Tessa Keller simply introduces too much reality to the otherworldly fantasy of perpetual sunshine that has driven the show so far. Besides, she’s boring. Sure, sometimes, as in movies and novels, unpopular girls are secretly noble, sophisticated and brilliant, but sometimes — we have to admit — they’re just uncool. "

Kyndra: Love. Her. But at the same time (despite being almost a full decade older than her), she scares me a little. I can't wait to see her scheming and plotting-- which I think will put Kristin's machinations to shame.

Cami: As my boyfriend said, "classic sidekick". I don't think she'll be the Alex H. of the season, because really any girl who went with Jason to prom has to be interesting, but I'm interested to see her play Princess Bee to Kyndra's Queen Bee.

Cameron: Has VERY white teeth. And I think that's it.

Jessica: Ohhh, Jessica. Have you learned nothing? I cringed watching her date with Cameron. It's the FIRST DATE, Jess! Don't talk about feelings or commitment or your exes! Talk about cute, flirty things. FYI: emotional abuse is NOT cute and flirty. Sigh.

Season 2 Girls: Love, love, loved seeing them be catty about Jason and Lauren and Kristin. Think they'll drop in once in awhile to impart some old-school wisdom on the youngsters? Or even to just illuminate us on what happened with Alex H. and Kristin?

Also, when Alex M. walked into dinner singing "L-O, L-O, L-O-V-E", did anyone else have flashbacks of her walking into the beauty parlor last season singing "This s**t is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S"...Or was that just me?

New Season Update-- Tessa Keller

The New York Daily News has an article about the heir apparent to the Laguna Beach narrator's throne once occupied by LC and Kristin. This year's narrator is Tessa Keller, a 17-year-0ld junior.

In addition to her new job as Laguna Beach narrator, Tessa is a model for surfwear companies Hurley and Lucy Love-- and she designs her own clothes. No word yet on this season's drama, but I'll have updates as soon as they come across the wires!

The Plot Thickens

Looks like Lauren is the only one looking out for Jason's privacy. Yesterday, the New York Post reported the following:

""He went psycho," an insider told The Post.

Building staff at the apartment complex where Conrad lives have been informed that she and roommate Heidi Montag are moving out, according to sources close to the production.

Already the locks on her apartment have been changed, and the building's staff is under strict orders to physically remove Jason if he tries to get in. "

Innnnteresting. While allegations of abuse are nothing to joke or laugh about, or even mention casually, the description of Jason as "psycho" may lend some credence to the rumors that Jason may have had some physical altercations with Alex M. and Jessica last season.

Jason and LC have called it quits. Officially. Sadly, it didn’t happen before she got the opportunity to head to Paris, but I guess I can’t be greedy.

Looks like French Vogue wasn't supposed to be Lauren's only summer internship option. The Daily had this bit of news:

"Lauren Conrad may have landed a dream job interning at Teen Vogue, but that success evidently did not translate overseas. Teen Vogue editors and producers for the MTV reality series, The Hills, are said to have approached Louis Vuitton—which recently began advertising with the magazine this year—with the idea of having Conrad end the season having scored an internship at the French fashion house’s headquarters in Paris. According to sources, Louis Vuitton wasn’t so keen on the idea and politely declined. An MTV spokeswoman could not be reached for comment. Guess there is reality in television after all."

Catching Up With Trey and Lo

Looks like I'm not the only one who wonders about the Season 1 cast of LB... Paper Magazine's blog recently tracked down Trey and Lo, and offered some interesting news. Here's what they say:

In 2005, the Bard College Rugby Football Club awarded him the "Freshman of the Year" award.
Quite the sporty one, Trey was also a member of the 2005-2006 Bard squash team.
Last year Trey was quoted in a USA Today story about the iPod Shuffle: "It's great," said Trey Phillips, 18, a Bard student from Los Angeles. "If you're going for a run, it's perfect because it's so small and light."
He has a website, treydesign.com, where he sells hats, sunglasses and muses about the youth movement: "By unifying the youth, we give the long-term future a voice. And by creating a culture of unity now, we lay the groundwork for our children to voice the long-term interest as well. If we want to protect the future forever, we must pass down the tools necessary to protect the future, from one generation to another." The Hills Are Alive... Laguna Beach, Teen Vogue, and some fab fash players Tuesday, May 30, 2006
(NEW YORK) Last season, Laguna Beach addicts caught their first glimpse of The Hills, which follows former Laguna girl Lauren Collins (aka L.C.) to her new home in LA. Fans quickly learned that Lauren landed a Teen Vogue internship, threw herself into the L.A. fashion scene, and even met Anna Wintour at a fall show.
With the program’s debut set for tomorrow, The Daily learned a little more through another featured player—Kelly Cutrone, who directed Lauren during Jennifer Nicholson’s show at L.A. Fashion Week.
“That girl was so funny,” shared Kelly. “She had to do a very simple task: come backstage at the show and get tickets for her editor. It’s not that hard but she had a lot of trouble. She stood around backstage for at least a half hour before she figured out what to do. She didn’t really have the sense of how to do things: she wanted stuff to fall on top of her and into her lap. In her position as an intern, she really needed to make things happen.”
Meanwhile, MTV committed a fashion faux-pas at the show: asking for a front row seat for their star. “I was like, absolutely not,” said Kelly. “If she’s an intern, she’s not going to sit in the front row. I don’t care that she’s on MTV. She can stand in the back as an intern.” That may change next season, when Lauren goes from intern to TV star (and this month’s Teen Vogue cover girl).
As for her future in the fashion industry, “I don’t know how she’ll do,” says Kelly. “I mean, I wouldn’t hire her, but she could grow. Everyone makes mistakes their first time.”

May 30, 2006 -- AS a grown-up, I'd like to put myself in the shoes of the insanely spoiled girls who are featured on MTV's newest reality show, "The Hills."
But frankly, I can't afford it. The shoes, I mean.
In what has become surreally unreal, what we've got here is a spin-off of another "reality" show which is a takeoff of a drama. It used to be that life imitated art, now life (or whatever the heck you call this) is imitating itself after it has imitated art. Get it? Got it? Good - because I certainly don't.
At any rate, "The Hills" is a spinoff of MTV's immensely popular "Laguna Beach," a "reality" show from which Lauren Conrad, a then-high schooler (who looks 30), emerged as the star.
Now Lauren gets to star in her own life, beginning with her arrival in Lost Angeles (not a typo) to attend fashion school. Omigod!
Right off, she and her new roommate - another big looker in a bikini - survey their new apartment. No dorms for these babes. Just because they're freshmen doesn't mean they have to live like it!
Before Lauren even goes to her first day of class, she gets an interview to be an intern at Teen Vogue. Right. This is about as real as Faye Dunaway's latest face.
She meets with the West Coast editor, Lisa Love (I swear!), who says, in all seriousness, "Why Teen Vogue?" Omigod! Why naut? It's, like, so cool!
Within what seems like minutes after the interview, Lisa Love's assistant calls back to say that to work at Teen Vogue as an intern, "You need a lot of experience writing [Lauren doesn't have it], and in fashion [well, she shops a lot] . . . but Lisa really liked you and wants to offer you an internship!" Omigod!
Lauren's first task is to work a huge party and guard the V.I.P. section. Instead she let's her spoiled, shallow rich friends into the party and they sit all over the V.I.P. seats. Lisa Love isn't happy. But instead of firing her butt on the spot, she says somewhat menacingly, "I'll see you on Monday!"
If it were real life instead of reality TV, a large man with a wire in his ear would have helped them all find the door.
It's a good thing reality TV has nothing to do with real life.

I'll have my review of The Hills up soon-- after I get the chance to re-watch and digest it a little more. For now, my main thought is-- I LOVE Heidi's brown dress from the Teen Vogue party, and I wonder where she got it. My second thought? Nice apartment. Third thought? It must be terrible (or at the very least, stressful) to have the college interview from Hell televised on MTV.

IT'S a match made in MTV reality TV hell: "Newlyweds" hubby Nick Lachey is hooking up with "Laguna Beach" babe Kristin Cavalleri. The swingin' single ex of Jessica Simpson introduced his mother to bubbly blonde Cavalleri last week over dinner at Palomino in Westwood, Calif., tattles an eatery insider. Lachey had previously enjoyed some rebound relief with buxom Miss Kentucky Elizabeth Ann Arnold, while Cavalleri had been dating former Olympian Bruce Jenner's son, Brody. But Cavalleri is playing it cool: When she arrived at Koi in L.A. the other night and saw Lachey and a group of buddies having dinner, she beat a hasty exit to meet some girlfriends for drinks at the Four Seasons hotel.

status that helps her get into bashes. You go, K.C. Those 15 minutes are, like,
so turning into 16. (Talan Torriero, if I were you I would suck it up and call
Kristen for advice.)

My Get This Party Started Review

PHEW, y'all! Forget working hard at my new job-- I've been busy writing an opus on Kristin's magnificent new show on the UPN, "Get This Party Started". I've done research on how the show will affect Kristin's career in the long range, done pretty much a dissertation on the production values, wardrobe choices, meaningful community service...I'm SO glad that the show is going to be on our screens for the long haul, because otherwise I'd look pretty ridiculous.

Wait...What? It was CANCELLED? After just two airings? And she dropped out of that Al Pacino movie to do the show? Wow.

Kidding, y'all-- well, about my long review of the show. But not about the fact that it's been cancelled. Check the news out here. Think she's rethinking her decision not to appear on season three of LB?

In this month's issue of Teen People, which she appears on the cover of, Kristin admits to trying cocaine, feuding with LiLo, and experiencing heartbreak because of Stephen. MTV offers some of the juiciest tidbits from the article:

"Kristin Cavallari's tried cocaine, she reveals in the March issue of Teen People. "It was fun for, like, 20 minutes, but the next day, I just didn't feel good about myself," she told the mag. "It's a dirty drug. I find people who do coke to be very shady, that they're doing it makes them lie about things. I wouldn't want to date someone who's into it." Instead, she's dating drug-free Brody Jenner of "The Princes of Malibu," which she calls her "first mature relationship." "With Stephen [Colletti], it was like high school fun." That is, except for when he two-timed her with fellow "Laguna Beach" star Lauren "LC" Conrad. "I saw what happened when I watched the season-one DVD," Cavallari said. "I cried for days." This, of course, didn't stop Cavallari from doing something similar to Lindsay Lohan, who she says flipped out when she walked in on Talan Torriero and her in bed together. "She was never nice to me until the story about the fight came out," Cavallari said. "But she was so nice once that went public."

"The problem, says a story editor who asked not to be named, was that the triangle didn’t exist. LC and Stephen, he says, were platonic friends, so the producers played Cupid through montage. No word yet on whether LC was with him (cross your fingers that she's seen the light!) but something tells me that with studio execs, managers and actors around, Jason wasn't the only member of the Laguna Crew to make it to Utah. Breaking News! I lost my job today-- not as a result of this blog, but due to downsizing and my marketing position being taken over by automated processes. So, what does that mean for the blog? At first, it'll mean more time for me to post hot news about the Laguna kids. And secondly, it means that the little Amazon.com donations box down and to the right is more important than ever. I'm not begging or anything, I'm just saying that since I have some extra free time on my hands, maybe I should go out to L.A. and LB to do some research...so donate away, and I'll bring back some superhot news. Or, I may just use it to buy some extra-hot lattes at Starbucks.

Anyway, I just thought that in the midst of updating you about the lives of people none of us really know, I'd pause to briefly update you on me.

Laguna Media Bonanza!!!!

Vegas, Baby

Kristin mentioned last night on Letterman that she spent New Year's Eve in Vegas with her boyfriend. An awkward exchange followed, with Dave joking that there's gambling in Vegas and K-Cav repeating her "I had no ideeeeeaaaaaaaaaaa" refrain to (minimal) sarcastic effect. Anyway, Trent has some snapshots of Kristin's Vegas Vacation up today. Clearly, although she said she couldn't gamble because she's under 21, she definitely didn't pay attention to ALL of the age laws of Nevada.

Well, it wasn't terrible. And it wasn't totally awkward. But you have to know that an interview isn't going to be great when the following things happen:

During his opening monologue, Dave pronounces your first name "Kristina".
During your interview, your stick earring gets caught in your (slightly stiff) updo, and you appear to be attempting to shake it loose.
A little later in the interview, when Dave says: "So, let's look at a clip" you respond (repeatedly) with "Really? I had no idea" ...and then he realizes that there is no clip of your new UPN show "Get This Party Started", and awkward silences ensue.

The Top 10 Things I Learned About Kristin Cavallari On The Late Show

10. She had a 3.6 GPA her junior year and a 3.0 GPA her senior year. She blames the show.
9. K-Cav didn't like the portrayal-- she said they made her look like a bitch.
8. What happens in Cabo doesn't necessarily stay in Cabo. Her explanation of spring break? "You go to the beach and tan...and then you go to sleep at night"
7. Her second explanation of what happens in Cabo: "Everyone is up on the bar dancing. And trhe drinking age is 18 down there so I got up on the bar and danced. "

All in all, I think she did well. Yes, there were some awkward moments, but those almost seemed to be Dave's fault more than hers. Lots of nervous laughter, but that's to be expected when the host begins your interview with "So, what...You went to high school on TV or somethin'?" I'm scouring the internet for pictures, and will post them as soon as I find 'em!

Over at the Television Without Pity message boards, a poster writes in with the following firsthand account of Kristin's Veronica Mars guest stint:

"I did extra work on Veronica Mars this past week and Kristin was filming some of her scenes. She seems like a nice girl, I had to stand next to her off camera for a couple minutes. We laughed at a couple things and briefly chatted about Orange County. I couldn't tell if she was just nervous since it was her first day or she's just snobby. The last scene we had to shoot she kind of kept looking around to see if any of us were looking at her, which we weren't. And she had to eat with us and the crew outside which I found amusing. Her acting is ok, she does that over enunciating thing and she isn't too familiar with how the camera works but with some more lessons she should be fine."

Looks like the Laguna kids are doing their best to start 2006 off the way they ended 2005...on the worst dressed lists.

Here's a picture of Kristin wearing a really cute shirt. Oh-- wait...what? Ohhhh, I get it. Apparently, the kids these days are wearing dresses so short they're easily confused with shirts. Clearly, K-Cav is on top of (but barely covered by) the trend:

Kristin's former lovahhh, Talan, also makes unfortunate fashion choices. Hmmm...Maybe in addition to long walks on the beach, awkward conversation and shrimp cocktails, K-Cav and our favorite Karmic scholar shared "how not to dress" tips...

Season One Cast Update

If you're a TRUE old-school Laguna fan, you'll remember Christina Schuller from Season One of LB. She was a virgin, had a disastrous audition for a Broadway casting director and had her own Two Non-Blondes clique with fellow chastity belt model Morgan. In addition to all of these charming traits (and possibly related to the whole declaration of virginity on national TV) Christina's father and grandfather are the pastors at the Crystal Cathedral, a HUGE church in California that broadcasts its services on Sunday mornings. News reports are coming out that Christina's dad, Robert A. Schuller, will be taking over as head pastor for the church. Maybe this means that Christina will drop out of SMU and become choir director! Okay, probably not-- but how great a spinoff would that make? Forget LC and "The Hills"...Christina and "The Pews" would be super-hot.

BREAKING TALAN NEWS!!

Just for fun on a sloooooow work day, I wandered over to http://www.talantorriero.com. When I did, the "Somewhere Dead In Hollywood" song didn't play, no pictures of Talan and K-Stew came up, and I didn't see any offers to buy autographed pictures of him on eBay. Instead, I got this:

"The Law of Karma
In Buddhist teaching, the law of karma, says only this: `for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.' A skillful event is one that is not accompanied by craving, resistance or delusions; an unskillful event is one that is accompanied by any one of those things. (Events are not skillful in themselves, but are so called only in virtue of the mental events that occur with them.)

Therefore, the law of Karma teaches that responsibility for unskillful actions is born by the person who commits them.

Let's take an example of a sequence of events. An unpleasant sensation occurs. A thought arises that the source of the unpleasantness was a person. (This thought is a delusion; any decisions based upon it will therefore be unskillful.) A thought arises that some past sensations of unpleasantness issued from this same person. (This thought is a further delusion.) This is followed by a willful decision to speak words that will produce an unpleasant sensation in that which is perceived as a person. (This decision is an act of hostility. Of all the events described so far, only this is called a karma.) Words are carefully chosen in the hopes that when heard they will cause pain. The words are pronounced aloud. (This is the execution of the decision to be hostile. It may also be classed as a kind of karma, although technically it is an after-karma.) There is a visual sensation of a furrowed brow and downturned mouth. The thought arises that the other person's face is frowning. The thought arises that the other person's feelings were hurt. There is a fleeting joyful feeling of success in knowing that one has scored a damaging verbal blow. Eventually (perhaps much later) there is an unpleasant sensation of regret, perhaps taking the form of a sensation of fear that the perceived enemy may retaliate, or perhaps taking the form of remorse on having acted impetuously, like an immature child, and hping that no one will remember this childish action. (This regret or fear is the unpleasant ripening of the karma, the unskillful decision to inflict pain through words.)

If there are no persons at all, then there is no self and no other. There is no distinction between pain of which there is direct sensual awareness (which is conventionally called one's own pain) and pain that is known through inference (conventionally called another person's pain). Whether pain is known directly or indirectly, there is either an urge to quell it or an urge to cultivate it. Whether joy is known directly or indirectly, there is either an urge to nourish it or to quell it. In the conventional language of speaking of events personally, the urge to quell all pain and to nourish all joy is known as being ethical or skillful or (if you like) good. The urge to nourish pain and quell joy is known as being unskillful, unethical or bad.

Being fully ethical is said to be impossible for those who make a distinction between self and other and show preference for the perceived self over the perceived other, for such perceptions inhibit being fully responsive. Being fully ethical is possible only for those who realize that all persons are empty, that is, devoid of personhood. "

Interesting, to say the least...Especially when it's hosted on the URL of a reality star mostly known for his dating exploits and bitchin' way with a skimboard. And when you Google Talan, the first thing that comes up is the Karma site. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on? Retribution from Tay Tay for breaking her heart? Jealous musicians? Ste-phen? I know, it's been far, far too long. And I promise it will never happen again. As a reward for your patience, understanding and love of Laguna, here's a hot bit of news from Page Six today. (P.S.-- Several hot posts to come later today!)

"WE HEAR THAT the "Laguna Beach" spinoff, "The Hills," will feature Heidi Montag going to work for L.A. nightlife king Brent Bolthouse at his Bolthouse Productions. The cameras have started to follow her every move . . ."

You might remember Heidi as LC's friend who "might not be cut out for college", but is definitely cut out for walking down the runway in a fur vest. Why is this TINY piece of news so hot? A few reasons:

Bolthouse Productions throws some of young Hollywood's hottest parties, and Brent Bolthouse counts LiLo as one of his closest friends.
We now know Heidi's last name and can Google her to our heart's content.

Trent included a link to Talan and Kristin's Christmas wish lists, and surprisingly enough, neither asked for US Weekly covers, a top 10 record, guaranteed entry into DJ AM's club LAX or a mention in Page Six.

Talan wants an English Bulldog and scented candles (does one beget the other?). Kristin is a little more in the giving spirit, and thinks that Barbies make the perfect gift for girls, because she could never get enough of them when she was younger. Awwww. Wonder if that's why she moved to Cali?

Side By Side-kick

I've always wanted to be a sidekick on LB. You know, like Heidi and Jenn are to LC, or Roz is to Kristin. Since I'm all the way across the country-- not to mention slightly out of their age group, I may have to settle for second best. Buying Talan's broken Sidekick.

Someone in Arizona (hmmm, Taylor maybe?) is selling his broken Sidekick on eBay. Although the top screen and the keyboard part are broken apart, and the seller claims there's no way it will ever work, something tells me there MUST be a way to get the data off of it. If you want to bid, be my guest. Or you can always click on the Amazon button to the right and donate some money to me so I can buy it!

LB Stars Go To College!

LC and Stephen made a joint appearance at Washington University in St. Louis recently, and the student paper interviewed them. In a scintillating piece of student journalism, we learned that LC doesn’t like Taco Bell and that Ste-phen has a girlfriend. Although the gossip I blogged earlier said that his girlfriend is K-Cav, that’s the one fun fact from that email that I find tough to believe. Stephen was characteristically vague about his new ladyfriend, only saying: “I have a girlfriend”. Thanks for the insight, Stephen. Maybe he has a couple of them, and doesn't want to tip the others off that they're not the only one. I can't say it's out of the realm of possibility!

Casey appeared on Ramiro and Pebbles' L.A. (oops, almost typed "LC") radio talk show recently. Click here and scroll down to listen to Miss Casey-dilla herself talk about fame, extensions, and frozen burritos.

Okay, maybe that's not what she talks about, but how hot would it be if it was? Casey actually comes across as being nice, level-headed and dare I say it...intelligent? Maybe it's all that pageant training that gave her the ability to give such diplomatic answers.

Fun facts: Her brother is a professional baseball player for the Angels. And she doesn't know what "butt cheeks" are. And she thinks Jessica is a "sad girl".

buy the $75,000 bauble. During a shoot for the Bongo clothing line this week in
L.A., Torriero was overheard telling pals he used his dad's credit card. Now

Mother of Casey-Dilla

This week's OK! Magazine has an article featuring Casey from Season 2 of LB. Attempting to override her reputation as a girl with bad extensions, a maid named Imelda, and a terrible prom dress, Casey opens her big about something other than Alex M.'s hygiene issues: how close she is with her mother. Here's what the OK! website says:

"After appearing in the hit MTV teen drama Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, Casey Reinhardt — the ‘new girl’ on season 2 — was ready to take a break with her mom, Kelly Roberts at a spa that Kelly owns. Casey says she and her mom are “incredibly close.” She added, “My best friends are always telling me that they can’t believe how strong the relationship is between my mother and me. I tell her about school, my classes, my grades, my friends, who I am dating — everything. "

A poster on the Television Without Pity message board also says that Casey talks about how she doesn't drink, and was asked three times to be on LB before agreeing, and doesn't party. I guess she has to set a good example for the kiddies.

Dieter Backtracks

Looks like Dieter's not just Running Home 4 Teens, he's also running away from the comments he made on his MySpace the other day. After accusing one of his "best chicas" for selling out for cash and fame (which obviously made me think it was K-Cav), he posted an apology/explanation yesterday for what he said.

"Everyone has been involved at some point and that is amazing in itself. For me to say anything otherwise was immature and I am very sorry. I am fully grateful for the time LC put in over the past year. I wish I could have everyone with me at every event down the stretch but it doesn't work that way. This whole thing has been a learning process and I would be an idiot, ashamed to forget how much people have helped out in the past regardless if they are doing so now."

Is it just me, or can you see Lauren backing out of an event for a fairly legitimate reason (like school, internship, tapings), and Dieter immediately going on MySpace in a snit and typing out his aggressions?

SUPERHOT Almost Firsthand LB Gossip!

My new favorite blogger Bricks and Stones, whose link you can find to your right, tipped me off to this fabulous opus of LB Gossip. It's so juicy I can't paraphrase, and I'm just doing a big ol' copy and paste. Oh, and if anything is defamatory, libelous or slanderous, just add a big ol' ALLEGEDLY in front of it. Ready? Put on your water wings and dive on in.

"I went to lunch yesterday with my sister and her friend Miss K. Miss K. happens to work for Oprah. The other day, she was in the Harpo studios cafeteria getting breakfast, when lo and behold, there they were - Kristin, Jessica, Alex H. Alex M. and Taylor. Turns out they went to school with one of Harpo's marketing assistants and were there as her guests for the show. Miss K is a huge fan and was freaking out a bit (and she doesn't even freak out over celebrities!) and the marketing director said she would have the Laguna Beach girls stop by her office before they left." So, there they were, the LB girls and Miss K which gave Miss K a chance to ask some pressing questions........here is the scoop:

• Jessica is not very smart (duh!) nor very pretty in person. She is in community college and not doing a whole lot. Miss K. asked her if her parents were mortified by her behavior - she said they weren't exactly pleased. She just used Jeff (boy that was at end of season) didn't really like him, just wanted someone to make out with.

• Stephen and Jason are good friends and live together in LA, but Jason is always at L.C's. Turns out he and LC never broke up and are still dating.

• Also, turns out Jason has some MAJOR issues - the reason he didn't go to graduation.......he didn't graduate. He failed his senior year. Ditto for Talan.

• More on Jason - he has been in and out of rehab about 3 times in the past year. He is also bipolar and is on some major medication. His grandparents are the wealthy ones and his parents don't really work -just live off of the grandparents.

• More on Talan - his mom used to be some actress so is pretty well-connected in Hollywood. The engagement to Kimberly Stewart is just a publicity stunt - they aren't really engaged. His mom is trying to coach him on getting himself into the limelight.

• Alex H. and Alex M. are roommates. Alex M. is trying to make it in the music world and Alex H. dates a guy in Alex M.'s backup band.

• Another tidbit - Jason used to hit (ie, abuse) Alex M. when they dated. Per Alex M., the reason you didn't see that in the show is b/c MTV was trying to sell a fantasy. That is also why you don't see Alex M. and Jason actually break up.

• LC is supposedly the meanest person of the bunch - they say she is the least approachable.

• Another thing, is apparently MTV and BMW have some sort of deal, which is why you always see them driving around in BMWs - ie, Kristin's dad didn't really buy her the BMW - she got it from MTV.

The press release touting Kristin's new show has this interesting biography of Miss Cavallari:

Kristin Cavallari most recently starred in the hit reality series "Laguna Beach." Cavallari has been acting since the age of 7, and has appeared in numerous commercials and ad campaigns. She is currently taking acting classes and is continuing to expand her acting career. A native of LagunaBeach, Calif., Cavallari currently resides there as well as in Marina Del Ray, Calif.

I knew she did that ad for the terribly ugly corset tops that appeared in a couple of magazines, but are they counting commercials and ad campaigns for LB as prior experience? Just wondering. And slight fact check, UPN: She's only lived in LB for three years. The girl is from Colorado.

Or until one of us gets to be a really big reality star. While perusing Dieter's RH4T MySpace, I found this little (but juicy) tidbit.

"Lost touch/cut ties with a certain chica friend which really sucks especially coming up to this run. Its been really sad to see how fast certain people can sell out for some cash and drop all their friends from their past for someone. It just has made me realize a lot and I kind of finally belive that having some reality show and fame can make people forget all of their friends from the past. TO me I never thoguht it would happen, just seems way to shallow and sad. I know I would never put my family and friends behind anything I do. it has really shocked and bummed me out. . I just dont know how that can happen and the only way I deal with it is to forget it, assume the whole last years of being good friends was only cause they needed it, untill they had a show and some "fame". I just regret backing, regret trusting. To have somone you consider a best friend bail so easily is a bitch slap in the face and is really really sad. Its not somthing you can forgive or ever forget about. You really learn who your true friends are though this process. You see who really cares and who only cares

Since I think LC has been helping out with promoting the race, and because Kristin from E! said that K-Cav has gotten a little big for her britches, I'm going to have to go way out on a sequin-covered limb and guess that this refers to Kristin...Although E! K-Cav Gets A Show!

...Here's hoping it lasts longer than boyfriend Brody Jenner's show, "Princes of Malibu". The New York Daily News reports that Kristin has been tapped to cohost the new show "Get This Party Started", which sounds like it has a fairly straightforward premise. According to the NYDN, "Each week, the production team throws a Hollywood-like party for someone in need or someone who deserves a pat on the back."

The show actually sounds really...nice. Almost like a hybrid between "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "My Super Sweet Sixteen". In other words? I'm TOTALLY watching. Will Kristin show up in someone's doorway and say things like "Your old life is completely DUNZO." ? Will she help them shop for appropriate party outfits consisting of layered tank tops and shredded denim minis?

Congrats to K-Cav on getting some actual work. The show producer says, "Certain people, whether in acting or television, have something - a quality - that 'it' factor. I think it's there in Kristin and we were really pleasantly surprised with her." I'm not sure if "really pleasantly surprised" is the most flattering 'compliment' one could hope for, but that picture of her? VERY flattering.

Brace yourselves, dear readers...Kimberlan is no more. I know. Pause to collect your emotions, grab a Kleenex, take some deep breaths...Okay? Good. Here's the news story from the AP:

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kimberly Stewart and "Laguna Beach" star Talan Torriero say their wedding plans are off.

"It was just too soon to enter into a lifelong commitment," their representatives said in a joint statement. "It is better to have a brief engagement than a short marriage. The couple continue to share their time together and remain open to whatever the future may hold."

Stewart, the 26-year-old daughter of singer Rod Stewart, and Torriero, a 19-year-old star of the MTV reality show, announced their engagement earlier this month.

Torriero's publicist, Jack Ketsoyan, said early Sunday that the two were no longer romantically involved. Stewart's representative, Elliot Mintz, said they "remain friends."

Mintz said they began dating "a relatively short period of time" ago.

"It would be in the category of weeks as opposed to months," Mintz said.

Stewart and Torriero were recently in the news as the backseat passengers of Paris Hilton when she was involved in a minor car accident Nov. 9. No one was hurt and police said no one was cited after the mishap.

Stewart is a close friend of Hilton's and was at one time reported to be a possible replacement of Nicole Richie on the canceled Fox reality show "The Simple Life."

Torriero has said he's attempting to start a music career.

Beach Boozers: According to one spy, these castmembers are "supposed go to events [to promote themselves], but if they even show up in time for the red carpet, they're too wasted to pose for pictures."

Beach Bum: This castmember has been in and out of rehab many times, which is also the reason he or she wasn't even around for the first season of the show.

Beach Baddie: This castmember got into a knock-down, drag-out fight with a castmember of the opposite sex, bashing his or her head against a wall.

(Hint: Beach Bum and Beach Baddie are the same person.)

Not that I'm offering any speculation, just a random story...but in the Laguna book, Jason was described as not being in the first season because he had been sent away to a Utah wilderness camp and then a super-strict boarding school because he was fighting and partying WAY too much. I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'.

One of my FAVORITE sources for LB gossip, Kristin, the TV Diva on E! Online has handed over the reins of her column to her assistant for some SUPER juicy LB Gossip this week. The link to the whole article is here, but here are some interesting tidbits...Followed by a couple of blind (blond?) items.

First, news on the Season 2 Cast:

Jessica, Alex M. and Alex H. will all be appearing in Season 3. MTV also desperately wants Stephen and Kristin. However, Stephen's busy trying to jump-start his acting career (and a relationship with a girl in his acting class), and Kristin is also hesitating, given her fancy new role in that Al Pacino flick.
Kristin's "friendships with the Laguna gang are rapidly dissolving." Why? "As of two weeks ago, Kristin and Alex H. were sharing an apartment, but Alex H. left to move into another posh L.A. building with Alex M. It's a building that happens to be one of Kristin's dad's developments. Show insiders tell me their relationship soured because Kristin insisted that everything be about her, expecting Alex to be on call. The last straw went down at a San Diego event for Dieter's charity, when Alex refused to drive Kristin back to L.A. early for an audition."
"Stephen is sharing a downtown L.A. apartment with Dieter and Jason. They aren't in school right now, but while Stephen has acting classes, and Dieter has his charity, I'm told Jason's concentrating on cleaning up his act, though it doesn't seem to be happening. Says a source who works with the Laguna Beach crew, "Promoters are constantly calling them and sending them to different L.A. clubs every night of the week. Jason is always getting kicked out of clubs for getting into fights...He's wrecked a lot of cars, too. That's why you always see him driving different ones on the show." Same goes for Stephen. Word has it that last week he crashed a brand-new car the very same day he bought it!"
LC tells all of the other cast members to talk to the hand...except Jason, whom she's still (ugh)dating. I wonder if this includes Lo?
"According to insiders, [LC] and Kristin did make up months ago, but they're back to being enemies, maybe, I'm told, because they both hooked up with Stephen again over the summer." Maybe the rehashing of the LC-Ste-phan-K-Cav love triangle in the finale was a little more accurate and timely than we realized?

And now, Season 3
"As for Laguna's next installment, one well-connected spy says, "It isn't centered around a boy or a love triangle, like the last two seasons have been. It'll revolve around a couple of girls who can't stand another girl. One of the girls, who's in the 'we don't like you' group, is the chick Jason took to prom this year. Also, there are twins who actually moved to Laguna from Texas just to be on the show!" So, clearly it's Cami and her crew against "another girl". Breanna, perhaps?

Mall Tour 2K5

Here's some interesting firsthand scoop from a TVGasm on the Season 2 cast, straight from their Tiffany-esque mall tour of America.

"Okay so, I have scoop on the gunas. They came into RI this weekend and were at the local mall and went bowling wih a group of winners from a local radio station and did a few other things. here is the scoop from a girl I work with that won to be part of the bowling party.

Deiter and Jessica were kissing the whole time.
Deiter was an asshole and didnt talk to anyone.
Alex M got her schedual "mixed up" and didnt even come.
Roz [Alex H.] just sat there and didnt really talk to anyone.
Trey was really funny and cool.
Jesica was the most fun hugging everyone and talking to everyone. She said that most of the time when they are on the phone (like when Jason called her to break up) they are really talking to the producers and are being told what to say and that alot of the situations they are put in are fake.

My friend has pictures coming to I"ll post them when she gets them back."

MTV.com reports today on the activities (other than getting engaged) of today's Laguna newsmaker, Talan Torriero.

"Laguna Beach" star Talan Torriero's just wrapped his first movie role, for an indie film called "Driftwood," about an attitude-adjustment correctional facility for teens that's haunted by the ghost of a kid murdered there. Torriero plays Yates, a security guard who beats on the kids. Meanwhile, he's also nearly completed his debut album, and anticipates that "by the end of the week, it'll be done."

Phew. Leaves more time for engagement and wedding preparation.

Dieter, Jessica, Alex M. and Alex H., defining irony by promoting a foundation for (get this) teen depression and suicide. As if these kids have feelings! Anyhow, here goes: Crobar. Chi-town. They jumped onstage, danced a bit, chugged some liquid refreshments and then jetted. And they forget to, like, mention the foundation. Oops! So, then Jessica was spotted sulking in a velvet-roped-off corner. My Chi-town Desk (one of my most discerning, save Toledo) found them all "pretty annoying." Alex M. was supposed to perform and never did. Oh, please. Doesn't my Chicagoan toughie know the new celebrity is no celebrity! Talent is, like, so your grandparents.

I know I already posted the pictures from this event, but it's ALWAYS good to have another opinion.

K-Tal...Again

Since I'm away from the computer where I keep all of my Laguna dirt stored today, we'll have to hold off on more Laguna Beach Stars Of Tomorrow, and delve back into the world of Kimberlan. Ted Casablanca's Awful Truth weighs in today...

"I've never been so happy," she gushed to moi, as she brandished the huge bauble. "It's so big, you know?" Yes, dear. Mazel tovs are in order, but before we go picking out a maid-of-honor gown for Paris, let's discuss a couple of little things: The suck-ups at People claim this duo's been rockin' it for two months. But I, however, cannot tell a lie.

Kimberly's been boppin' Talan for two weeks...if that. Like, less than a month ago I eyewitnessed that blond babe riding some random dude's lap at the Roosevelt. And she licked up Ryan Cabrera at Mood almost yesterday, I do dishy declare! Now, I'm not one to judge (did my schnoz just grow nine inches?), I think all young thangs should date.

But why say it's been two months? Here's my theory. We all know Paris was riding shotgun to Stavi's drunken drivin'. What a scene it was, right? But didja know that Kimmers was in the backseat with Talan? I mean, I guess I knew, but did I care? Did anyone?

Here's what I think. Kim-doll and Talan put their trust-fundlicious heads together. They were sick of livin' the backseat life. Like, who can stand to be in Paris' shadow all the time? Two nobodies in the backseat of a somebody's Bentley are not exactly newsworthy. But two nobodies + a big fat rock = (perhaps) holy headlines!

I give 'em two months till they call it off. And I've only got one question. A couple months back, I asked Stewart if she thought that Paris should give Boy Paris that now infamous engagement rock back, and she responded, "She'll do the right thing. She's a lady."Do ya think Kim will live by her own words? Can't wait to find out.

Wait-- is Teddy C. implying that this isn't actually true love? I'm shocked, dismayed, and slightly secretly glad that Talan might still be um, available.

Thoughts? Does C-List plus C-List equal true love, or is this relationship going to end up Dead In Hollywood? And...Any bets on how long this lovematch will last? Ted's got two months, how about you?

We’ve spent a couple of days talking about a few of the girls who will be on the new season of Laguna, but most of the drama that girls get into has roots in conflicts over boys. Don’t believe me? Looks like Perez and I check the same MySpaces...Look what Taylor (or at least someone doing a good impersonation) thinks about Kimberlan:

"I know that love in Hollywood is pure and lasts forever, but I wouldn't be holding my breath for an actual wedding quite yet. Talan is Kim Stewart's third fiance in just over a year. She was previously engaged to Girls Gone Wild producer Joe Francis and musician Cisco Adler."

Page Six, among my first stops for gossip in the morning, has chimed in on the Kimberlan romance today. Their take on things?

KIMBERLY Stewart, 26, is in a hurry to marry "Laguna Beach" reality show star Talan Torriero, 19. They announced their engagement yesterday. "Talan's mother is hysterically crying. She is not happy," said a source. "They are getting their paperwork together to get married in Vegas this weekend. They want to do it right away" — presumably before the passion fades. Stewart, daughter of rock legend Rod, just broke up with "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis. She was betrothed to Mischa Barton's new beau, Cisco Adler, earlier this year.

After a day of reflection, thought and a couple of glasses of wine, I have come up with the following questions about Hollywood's hottest new couple.

1. How did he afford the ring? Apparently, he didn't. Word on the street (okay, a message board that I can't remember right now) is that the ring is only on LOAN from celebrity jeweler Neil Lane.

2. Do people REALLY think that getting married after just two weeks or two months or two dinners at Koi is a good idea?

3. How do his exes feel about this matchup? Forget Ste-phan and Jason as the pimps of Laguna-- Talan is a more skilled pick up artist than either. Talan has hooked up with Kristin, LC, Taylor, and LiLo.

4. Speaking of those exes, will the hot new novelty t-shirt at Kitson be "I f**ked Talan too"?

5. Are Kim and LiLo still friends? Or are they such good friends that they subscribe to the belief that "friends share"?

6. Am I the only one who finds all of this incestuous behavior a little weird? Forget just the "Laguna bubble", which is similar to the romantic entanglements of any high school or college. This love affair is the overlapping area in the Venn Diagram of "Hot Young Hollywood" (as defined by Us), reality TV, MTV, and Laguna.

Forget "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon"...Six Degrees of LB is the hot new party game that's sweeping the nation. Just you watch, hot stuffs.

Various news sources are reporting the engagement of Talan Torriero and Kimberly Stewart...They even confirmed it to Perez Hilton, who (as always) had the news hot, fresh, and firsthand:

Though they've been dating less than a week, "Laguna Beach" yummy boy Talan Torriero and Kimberly Stewart are engaged!!! For real!
When they first told us, we naturally assumed they were pulling our long Cuban chain, but the two insist that the engagement is for real and not a joke. However, these two are smart, media savvy cookies and they know that they've just bought themselves tons of free press!

According to Perez, a Vegas wedding could be in the works. Wait-- didn't K-Stew once say that that never works out?

ET has confirmed that KIMBERLY STEWART is engaged to "Laguna Beach" cast member TALAN TORRIERO. The 26-year-old daughter of rocker ROD STEWART recently split from "Girls Gone Wild" producer JOE FRANCIS. She was previously engaged to musician CISCO ADLER back in autumn of 2004. No word yet on a wedding date for Kimberly and Talan.

No word from Mr. Torriero, but insiders say his impulsive romance has been developing on schedule and should dovetail quite nicely with the inevitable breakup and drug habit.

People Magazine adds their two cents:

I say:

While trolling TVGasm for some Laguna Updates, I came across this post on a comment board. It's long, comes courtesy of someone who met Trey, and is potentially a complete lie, but at the very least it's interesting and new gossip that I haven't heard before.

1. Ever wonder why...Ste-phan took a cab home from the airport at Christmas? Nope, not because his mom and dad and the driver were all on a road trip together-- it's because his parents have "practically disowned" him post-LB on MTV. Unlike his son, Mr. Coletti isn't an attention-whore, and didn't like the scrutiny of his friends.

2. Ever wonder why...No one went after Lo? (Arguably the best LB resident EVER?) Maybe it's because "she took it from everybody her first few years. On the show she acts like a good girl because she is very afraid of her folks and that's the deal she cut with MTV". Post-MTV Lo alledgedly "she is the dirtiest, and does mad coke now".

3. Waiting for a Maxim Laguna Pictorial? Well, Maxim is willing to cough up a half-million per girl. (Note: this is the most far-fetched of the claims in the quoted post)

4. Ever wonder why...Trey and K-Cav didn't talk much? Shockingly, it's not because they appear to have nothing in common, but because they have one key thing in common: they dated. According to the TVGasm poster, Trey dated Kristin up until the beginning of his junior year, and she met Ste-phan through him. As further evidence of his awesomeosity, Trey "didn't let to get to him b/c he's a cool dude (which he is actually) and didn't want to let a girl get in the way of his friendship." Awwww. Cute.
